Gwen Bastian Enright, Nutritional therapist

Gwen Bastian-Enright

Founder, Nutritional Therapist and Health & Wellness Coach,

I have been practicing as a Nutritional Therapist since 2015 after graduating from the Institute of Health Sciences with a diploma, and have since added on a number of other qualifications. I learned to love nutrition in my earlier studies but it wasn't until I discovered Nutritional Therapy that I realised I wanted this as my career, wanting to empower other women to take control of their own health.

I specialise in working with busy anxious mums, helping them thrive, and not just survive, in motherhood. Peri-menopause is also a special interest of mine as it affects many women and how they experience their 30s, 40s and early 50s!

My journey with nutrition

My journey to Nutritional Therapy is anything but straightforward! Originally I studied Equine Science where we were taught about Equine Nutrition and I was fascinated. Then I went on to work in a laboratory, through which I have a Masters in Food Science, Technology and Nutrition from DIT. In 2009 I cut out a number of foods and realised that I felt so much better, this really ignited my passion for nutrition and I finally found the right course for me and studied NT. While studying I helped my own health immensely and managed to reduce symptoms of acne and asthma as well as seriously debilitating menstrual cycle symptoms and digestive issues and it just made me even more passionate to share my knowledge.

For the last 11 years I've also been in education, first by teaching English as a Foreign Language while studying NT and then by working for the college I graduated from. Here I  supervised students in their final year in clinic as well as teaching a wide number of topics, such as hormonal health, immune health and more, I really love sharing my knowledge and enjoy doing public talks.

I've always loved the idea of a holistic clinic, where people can come to see a variety of practitioners as I think health is not just one thing and as we are all so individual it takes more than one modality to help in complicated cases. Meeting Geri was a stroke of luck as herbalism and nutritional therapy can compliment each other so well, and it is wonderful to have been able to set up The Beara Holistic Clinic together in 2023.

What Our Clients Say

A friend recommended Gwen to me almost 4 years ago. I am a breast cancer survivor and now a woman who cannot take conventional HRT because my cancer was estrogen receptor positive. I guess you could say Gwen has been very much part of my journey. I approached her looking for supplement recommendations but quite quickly she identified I needed nutritional support too. I was just desperate to find a way for my cancer not to return. Little did I know that body image issues, anxiety and depression were all waiting in the wings. Gwen was so intuitive, empathetic and exceptionally professional. I stand here today a happier person, a person navigating menopause naturally and a person who is kinder to herself. Gwen’s knowledge, steadfast commitment to helping me feel like me again is the reason why. I could not recommend her highly enough.
